About Water for the Americas
Water for the Americas is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization founded in 2002 as a publicly supported charity. Our charter is to assist communities in the Americas in evaluating, developing and protecting water resources to ensure safe, sustainable water supplies and improve the living conditions and quality of life for people.
We work directly with the communities who benefit from our projects and with local, national and international organizations who help implement the projects. We are non-denominational and non-political and do not advocate any religious or political ideologies or agendas. We believe in building positive, beneficial relationships among people everywhere.
We are funded by contributions from people dedicated to helping others have clean water. In 2008, Water for the Americas was granted permanent status as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Contributions are tax-deductible.
Our Board of Directors includes Alan Ashbaugh, Craig Clement, Gabriel Miller, Gary Sammonds and Keith Thompson. They bring a wide variety of experience and a wealth of energy to our organization.
